Arguably the saddest song on the album, Life (originally titled Petie's Song) was written about someone the band cared about very deeply but lost too soon. Zack was the main brain behind this song, writing all the lyrics and almost the entire song on his own. He said the main riff was inspired by, believe it or not, a Lil' Wayne song.
lyrics
I tell myself everything’s alright
Life will never shine as bright
Look at the sky and tell me why
Something’s missing in this world tonight
Life was made of this
Stealing hearts of those that I miss
I’ll be in pain forever
But no one can live forever and ever
Last year was something new
We don’t look at things from a Hollywood view
Nothing will ever be the same
As long as you don’t remain
Life was made of this
Stealing hearts of those that I miss
I’ll be in pain forever
But no one can live forever and ever
I look back down in heaven
And thank you all for giving
My eyes have seen the light
But there’s nowhere I can hide
Life was made of this
Stealing hearts of those that I miss
I’ll be in pain forever
But no one can live forever and ever
I’m sorry for all that’s happened
We know that no one planned it
I guess that I can dream for you
Come on man, we can make it through
